After the successful debut of his pre-collection and the announcement of his official Haute Couture membership last season, some people might think that Alexandre Vauthier deserves some time to rest on his laurels. But resting doesn’t seem to be part of Vauthier’s vocabulary, and the French designer therefore proudly announced the launch of his own shoe line at today’s show, expressing his desire to further expand his accessories line. And if the shoe doesn’t fit, you can still spoil yourself with Vauthier’s fierce and ultra-feminine Haute Couture pieces. This season, his figure-embracing numbers came with a multitude of eye-catching adornments – think long fringes on a short leather coat-dress, feathers that embellished the trims of a neckholder evening gown, metal bullets that highlighted the structured surface of an asymmetric dress, or stacked buckle belts that emphasized the waist of a sleek jumpsuit. As a matter of fact, Native American is the main theme of this fashion show, which is a clear success. Emphasis is given on details, with fringed belt and dresses, giving the silhouette this charming touch of an elegant eccentricity. Femme fatale, the woman Alexandre Vauthier imagined is captivating, celebrating the Californian spirit: effortless and chic. If the silhouettes are sometimes unstructured, it’s with a perfect sense of volume and lines.
